Since 1996, Charity Cars has enabled your decision to donate cars to charity to help military families, the medically needy, people who could work if they could only find transportation to and from their jobsite, victims of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, victims of domestic violence and others. To many of our approved applicants, the gift of a car is an important step in them transitioning to full independence and becoming more productive members of society. To others, someone’s choice to donate cars to charity might mean the ability to keep a busy schedule of medical appointments necessary for themselves or their loved ones that public transportation, should it even be available in their area, could not provide.
One hundred percent of your generous decision to donate cars to Charity Cars goes to providing for the needs of those we reach. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and not a company that sells donated cars to charitable organizations for profit. When folks donate cars to Charity Cars, their car is, through our safety inspection process, either deemed acceptable as one of our “program” cars – a car that will be handed over directly to a needy family or individual – or is sold at auction. Auction sales proceeds are used to pay for our operating expenses. We don’t operate through middle men. We will take your car whether it is running or not and will have one of our affiliated towing companies come pick it up from you at a time and place convenient to you free of charge anywhere in the United States. We make the title transfer process easy and worry-free.
We accept cash donations, too, as well as donations of other vehicles, such as boats, recreational vehicles and even airplanes. Some people have contacted us after reading the many testimonials from people that have had their lives radically changed for the better through our program and have wanted to donate real estate; we’re excited when anyone wants to help us help others in whatever way they can.
